The new journeyman I work with caught wind that my first name isn't what
he's been calling me(I go by my middle name), and he KEPT calling me by
my 1st. Well, when he'd ask what my name was (or tell me) I corrected
him....and corrected him.....and continued.....without an
attitude......I just politely corrected him.....and he broke......I'm
happy.
So, white people, here's a lesson: black people are culturally sensitive
about their names, especially if a not so black person says it. If you
wanna piss off a black person (or learn not to piss one off), call them
something they wish NOT to be addressed by.....nicknames, gov't names,
mispronunciations, spelling errors, etc. Fuck that up, and you'll see
angry black people, quick.
